CREATIVE PERFORMANCE PROJECTS

Kate develops performance projects for Primary schools, working closely with teachers and partner organisations to create experiences for children that enrich the curriculum through the arts. Each project provides an opportunity for children to respond to particular ideas and themes through music, movement and drama.

The inspiration for a project can come from a topic or text being studied in class, or from a broader subject being covered in school, and sometimes material from one of Kate’s pieces provides a framework for creative exploration. Children have the opportunity to work individually and in groups to develop their own musical ideas, choreograph movement, devise scenes and explore characters. There is an emphasis on sharing and performing throughout the process.

Projects may involve one class or year group and sometimes a whole Key Stage, and range from immersive one-day workshops to weekly sessions over half a term.

“I have always found Kate to be one of the most innovative and exciting teachers of the Creative Arts. Her lessons are incredibly imaginative and always manage to engage every one of her students.”
